Weather Discussion for Saturday July 3, 2021

Normal high/ low temperatures for June 28-July(high/low)   Redding 97/65, Chico 95/60, Quincy 87/43, Chester 82/44, Susanville 85/49, Grass Valley 85/55, Weaverville 90/47, Mt. Shasta 82/49, Yreka 88/50, Alturas 84/42

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring. 

Redding averages about 40 days a year of 100 degree or higher weather.  We are already over 20.

High pressure is over the west and if anything might get a little stronger by the end of the week (see map below).  The inland areas of Northern California will be mostly sunny.  Today and Sunday there will be isolated thunderstorms east of the Sierra Cascade Crest.  Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees above normal and maybe a little hotter by the end of the week.  Winds will become southerly in the afternoon.
