This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
The high pressure area that was over our area has moved a little eastward. This puts Northern California on the westside of the high. The winds aloft will now be south to southwest (see map below). This means subtropical or monsoonal moisture can be pulled northward and cause thunderstorms. When the steering winds are southwest the thunderstorms will be along the California/Nevada border but when the winds are south the activity will more over our area.
Today through next week Temperatures will be 3 to 5 degrees above normal. There will be a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the higher elevations Sunday and Monday again late next week and weekend. South to southwest afternoon winds will continue.
