Normal high/ low temperatures for July5-July12 (high/low)   Redding 98/66, Chico 96/60, Quincy 89/44, Chester 84/44, Susanville 87/50, Grass Valley 86/55, Weaverville 92/49, Mt. Shasta 84/50, Yreka 90/51, Alturas 87/44


This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring. 

Continued hot and then hotter.   The high pressure area currently over the west will get a little stronger by the end of the week and weekend (see map below).  The inland areas will Northern California will be clear.  Temperatures will be 8 to 12 degrees above normal by the weekend.   Winds will increase from the southeast to southwest in the afternoons.

  1. So what's it going to take for this heat dome to go away? Are we stuck with it all summer?

  2. Unfortunately probably for the most part. There looks like some break about mid month. The other thing to watch for is sub tropical or monsoonal moisture being drawn northward in August. This happened in 1976
