This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
This morning's satellite picture (below) shows that the high pressure area is still east of our area and that it has pulled monsoonal moisture northward. The majority of this moisture is staying east of the Sierra Cascade Crest. There could be isolated thunderstorms today in Lassen and eastern Plumas counties. Temperatures today will be about like yesterday or slightly cooler. Increasing south to southwest winds will occur in the afternoon.
The high will stay to our east for the next week (see map below), with southwest flow aloft. The inland areas of Northern California will be clear with daytime temperatures 3 to 7 degrees above normal. South to southwest afternoon winds will continue.
