This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
Strong high pressure area to continue record heat today and Sunday. There will be some locally gusty north winds in the morning, but by afternoon the winds will be south to southwest.
Monday a weak upper level low pressure area will form just off the coast. This low is more a weakness between the two centers of the strong high pressure ridge (see map below). The low will drift around just off the coast and over Northern California through Wednesday. Not much moisture with this system but it could trigger isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the mountains. Temperatures start cooling slowly Monday and will be near normal by Wednesday. Light to moderate south to southwest winds will occur in the afternoons.
Instead of moving east the weak low will start to drift back the southwest Thursday. This will allow the high pressure ridge to move back over our area. Look for more hot weather by the weekend.
