Weather Discussion for Saturday May 8, 2021

Normal high/ low temperatures for May 3-May 10 (high/low) Redding 79/53, Chico 79/49, Quincy 70/37, Chester 65/33, Susanville 68/38, Grass Valley 68/44, Weaverville 74/39, Mt. Shasta 66/38, Yreka 70/39, Alturas 65/33

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring. 

A high pressure ridge will continue over the western U.S. and off the west coast.   The high will get stronger through midweek and the slowly weaken (see map below).  The next week looks like clear skies,  daytime temperatures will warm through Wednesday and then cool a little next weekend. Temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday will be 8 to 12 degrees above normal.  Gusty north to northeast winds will continue through Tuesday.

  1. what is creating the recent cold weather anomalies in the central / east part of the us ? And how come the western part is not being much effected? is it because of the geography of the land ? thanks
