This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
Big changes in the weather over the next week. Today and Thursday there will be partly sunny skies with clouds from the low pressure area moving across Southern California spreading northward over our area. Temperatures will continue above normal. Winds will be light today with increasing south winds Thursday.
Friday a low pressure trough will be approaching the coast and will bring light precipitation to Northern California Friday night and early Saturday with showers continuing over the foothills and mountains through Saturday afternoon. Snow levels will be 3500 to 4500 feet but will lower to 2500 to 3500 feet in the north Saturday afternoon.
Sunday night and Monday a colder low pressure area will move across the north state (see map below). This system will bring rain to the area with snow levels 1500 to 2000 feet north and 3000 to 3500 feet south. There will be a brief break early Tuesday and then another cold system will bring precipitation to the area Tuesday night and Wednesday. Snow levels will be 1000 to 1500 feet north and near 3000 feet south. Both these systems will be preceded by gusty south winds.
