This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
The high pressure ridge is still off the coast. Today and Sunday we will see clear skies with above normal temperatures. Gusty north winds will occur later today and Sunday.
Monday the high will pull back further to the west as a low pressure area cuts off from the jetstream and becomes a closed low pressure area well off the California coast (see map below). The low will move slowly across Southern California late Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday through Wednesday Northern California will be partly to mostly sunny with a few clouds from the low to the south. Temperatures will be slightly above normal. Light to moderate south winds will occur in the afternoon.
Thursday a large scale low pressure trough will deepen off the coast. This will send a weak frontal system across the north state Friday with light precipitation. A slightly stronger front will move through Sunday and Monday.
