This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
High pressure is along the west coast. Today and Sunday will be mostly sunny with daytime temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal. North winds will be increasing in some areas. Strong and gusty north winds will occur over Northern California Sunday.
Monday the high will begin to shift slowly westward. Skies will be clear through early Thursday with daytime temperatures cooling back to near normal by Thursday. Gusty north winds will continue through Thursday morning with strongest winds Monday and early Tuesday.
Friday the high will have moved far enough westward that the jetstream is dropping from Northern Alaska (see map below). This is not a very wet pattern...but it will bring very cold air into Northern California. The models indicate the high could shift a little further westward next weekend which would bring moisture into the cold airmass.
