This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

Mostly sunny today with a few high clouds.  Temperatures will be a little cooler but still above normal.  Gusty north winds are expected.   Thursday the high pressure area will continue to shift west and weaken.  A low pressure trough will move across the Pacific Northwest and bring a few clouds to Northern California with isolated light mountain showers.

Friday the low pressure area in the Gulf of Alaska will deepen and push the jetstream southward over Northern California (see map below).  This will allow a couple of frontal systems to move through the area.  Clouds increase Friday with rain reaching the north coast late Friday.  Saturday and Sunday will be cloudy with periods of rain.  The snow level will be near 6000 feet...but early Saturday could be locally lower north of Redding due to cold air trapped air in the valleys.  The snow level will drop to 5000 feet late Sunday.  Gusty south to southwest winds are expected.  Monday and early Tuesday we will see partly cloudy skies with scattered showers.  Snow levels will be 3500 to 4000 feet.

Skies clear out late Tuesday with mostly skies Wednesday and Thursday.
