This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
High pressure continues just off the west coast and not much change is expected through midweek. Skies will be mostly clear with a few mid and high clouds Tuesday and Wednesday from a front moving by to the north. Temperatures will continue 10 to 15 degrees above normal and winds will be light.
Things start to change Thursday the high pressure ridge will shift westward as a cold low pressure area forms along the Canadian coast and drops southward. This low will move across Northern California Friday and early Saturday (see map below). Because this system will be staying so close to the coast it will have limited moisture, but will bring much colder air into the north state. Thursday will be sunny changing to partly cloudy to cloudy skies Friday and part of Saturday with scattered showers mainly over the foothills and mountains. Gusty southwest to northwest winds will precede this low.
