Weather Discussion for Wednesday Aug. 12, 2020

 Normal high/ low temperatures for Aug 10-Aug 17  (high/low) Redding 98/64, Chico 96/58, Quincy 89/43, Chester 85/44, Susanville 88/49, Grass Valley 88/55, Weaverville 94/47, Mt. Shasta 86/49, Yreka 91/52, Alturas 88/41

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

The only change in our weather is the high pressure area over the western U.S. will get stronger by this weekend (see map below).  This means hotter weather.  Today and Thursday the inland areas of the northstate will be clear with temperatures normal to slightly below.   Things start warming Friday and by the weekend daytime temperatures will be 8 to 12 degrees above normal.   Winds will be light.  

The heat continues into early next week with some cooling by midweek  We could see some subtropical moisture pulled northward early next week and this will trigger afternoon and evening mountain thunderstorms.
