This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

A strong high pressure ridge will remain over the area through Friday afternoon.  During this time Northern California will see clear skies, with daytime temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal.  Winds will be light today and Thursday with increasing south winds Friday afternoon.

The weather feature to watch is the low pressure area off shore and southwest of California (see satellite picture below).  This low is moving northward and will turn more northeastward over the next 48 hours (see map below).  The low will move across Northern California Saturday.  Clouds will increase late Friday with showers and thunderstorms Friday night and Saturday.  Temperatures Saturday will be below normal.

Sunday there will be isolated showers and thunderstorms over the areas north of Redding with mostly sunny skies elsewhere.  Temperatures will continue below normal.

Monday another weak upper low pressure area will be along the coast.  This system will bring isolated afternoon thunderstorms to the mountains.  Temperatures will be a few degrees below normal.
