This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

Thunderstorms flared up yesterday over the Sierras from Tahoe southward with isolated activity also over the Trinity county area.  The residual clouds from these storms are over Northern California this morning.  There is also a very weak upper level low pressure area over the Pacific Northwest dropping southeastward.  The weak low combined with the moisture over the north state will trigger afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms mainly over the foothills and mountains today and Sunday .  While the valley will be partly to mostly sunny there could be an stray shower or thunderstorm move across the north end this afternoon and Sunday afternoon.  Light to moderate south winds are expected in the afternoon today and Sunday.

Monday another weak upper level low pressure area will move across the north state (see map below).  This system will bring another chance of showers and thunderstorms over the foothills and mountains.

Tuesday a high pressure ridge will begin to push northward over the west coast.  Tuesday and Wednesday we will see a few clouds at times from fronts moving by to our north.  Temperatures will be near normal.

Thursday through the weekend look mostly clear with above normal temperatures.  Gusty north winds will occur Thursday through midday Friday.
