This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

High pressure still along the coast.  Today and Thursday will be mostly sunny with daytime temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal.  Winds will be light.

Friday a low pressure trough and frontal system will be approaching the coast.  This system will pass through Northern California Friday afternoon and Saturday.  Clouds will increase Friday with rain over the foothills and mountains Friday afternoon through Saturday.  There will scattered light showers in the valley.  Snow levels will drop to 3500 feet Saturday.  Skies will be clearing Sunday.  Gusty southwest winds will occur Friday afternoon and early Saturday.

There will be a low pressure trough approaching the coast Sunday.   However, it will split apart with a closed low pressure area being left off the coast (see map below).  This resulting split jetstream pattern will keep the north state dry as the stronger portion of the jetstream will be to our north.

The off shore low will move slowly eastward and pass across Southern California about the mid part of next week.  Monday through Wednesday the north state will be partly sunny to partly cloudy.  The clouds will be coming from the off shore low.  Temperatures will be normal of a few degrees above.  Winds will be light.
