Finally a return of winter weather. This morning's satellite picture (below) shows a low pressure area off the coast. When I wrote the last blog it was thought that this low would move sourtheastward. However, it now looks like the low will remain off the coast through Sunday and then move slowly southward, crossing central and southern California late Tuesday and early Wednesday. Because the low will stay off the coast and move slower...this means wetter weather for Northern California.
Today through early Tuesday the low will send bands of clouds and rain across Northern California. Snow levels will be 3000 to 3500 feet today and 2500 to 3000 feet Sunday and early Monday. Gusty south to southwest winds will occur today.
Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday will be partly cloudy and cool with showers over the foothills and mountains. Snow levels will be near 3000 feet.
Thursday afternoon another low pressure area will approach the coast and will move across Central California Friday and Saturday. This system will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies to the north state will more rain and showers.
