Weather Discussion for Wednesday Feb. 19, 2020

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

Sunny today with continued above normal temperatures and light wind.  This morning's satellite picture (below) shows the frontal system approaching the coast is splitting apart.  The stronger northern portion will go into Canada.  The weaker southern portion will approach the coast Thursday afternoon and then move across Southern California Friday and Saturday.   This system will bring a few clouds to Northern California Thursday and Friday with isolated showers possible in the Sierra's from Plumas county southward.  

Saturday the high pressure ridge will be rebuilding along the coast and will remain there through at least the middle of next week (see map below).  This means more clear skies...above normal temperatures... and periods of gusty north winds.
