The low off the coast is moving slowly eastward. This low is similar to the last one but will take a more northeastward track as in moves inland late today and earlier Sunday. Northern California will receive light to moderate rain today, with gusty south winds. Snow levels will be 5000 feet north and 6000 feet south. The precipitation turns to showers Sunday morning and then decreases during the day.
Next week will be caught between a high pressure ridge to our south that will be trying to push northward and an active jetstream that will be running across the Pacific and into the coast. The effect of the ridge will be to push storms a little northward as they hit the coast. Monday and early Tuesday we will be partly to mostly sunny. Tuesday night and Wednesday a weak frontal system will brush the north state (see map below). This system will bring showers to the north coast and northern mountains. It will be followed by another weak frontal system moving through Thursday and Friday.
