This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

Sunny today with temperatures near normal.  North winds this morning and then southwest winds this afternoon.  Sunday the frontal system shown on the satellite picture below will move through the area.  We will see some clouds and cooler temperatures with a few showers over Siskiyou and Modoc counties.  Gusty north winds will move into the area late Sunday.

Monday through Wednesday high pressure will dominate our weather.  We will have sunny skies with temperatures 8 to 10 degrees above normal   Gusty north winds will continue through Wednesday afternoon.

We are beginning to see a more fall like weather pattern.   Thursday a low pressure area will begin to develop along and over the west coast.  Thursday we will still be sunny but temperatures will cool back to just above normal.   The low will be over the area Friday through the weekend  (see map below).  This system will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies to the north state with a few showers.  Temperatures will drop to 10 to 15 degrees below normal.  Gusty southwest winds will occur.

Now the thing to watch.   The European model has consistently shown this low off the coast and more south.   If this occurred we would see a lot more precipitation.
