This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

The weak upper level low pressure area is now over Northern California and is moving slowly eastward.   This system will trigger isolated thunderstorms over the areas north and east of Redding today.   Thursday the high pressure area will be back over the western U.S.  However, the high will be weakened and pushed eastward as a low pressure area develops off the Canadian coast (see map below).  Temperatures today will a little cooler than yesterday with southwest to northwest winds in the afternoon.

Friday through early next week we will see mostly clear skies with temperatures slowly dropping back to normal or a few degrees above.  Gusty south to southwest winds will occur in some areas during the afternoon.

One thing to watch is the low off the Canadian Coast.  One model takes it eastward and weakens it the other model closes or cuts it off the drops it southward along the coast, with it off the Northern California coast by the mid part of next week..
