High pressure is off the coast. However, a weak upper level low pressure area has formed off the Southern California coast. This low will move north to northwest and then Tuesday and Wednesday move across Northern California. This low could trigger some isolated thunderstorms over the higher elevations, mainly north and east of Redding, late Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees above normal today through Wednesday and then will cool to slightly above normal by the weekend Winds will be light with south to southwest winds in the afternoons.

Hello ... the LP reported on Saturday was off the northern coast of CA... the one shown this morning on the map is off the south coast... I am assuming a different one... how far ahead the model used in this case can forecast weather pattern? Thanks
ReplyDeleteThe low pressure area off the southern coast will move north to northwest and be off the north coast by late tomorrow and then move across the north state Wednesday. The model runs 4 times a day and forecasts for the next 16 days. However, the accuracy of the model is not that great after about day 7 to 9.
