Sunny with a few high clouds today with near normal temperatures as high pressure remains along the west coast. Tuesday things begin to change as a cutoff low from the Gulf of Alaska drops southward. This low will be over the Pacific Northwest Thursday (see map below) and then move slowly eastward Friday and Saturday. The main affect this low will have is cool temperatures below normal Tuesday and keep them there through Saturday. Most of Northern California will stay sunny. However, Tuesday through Thursday there will a few clouds over the areas north of Redding with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Gusty southwest to northwest winds will occur in some areas Tuesday through Thursday.
High pressure will return to the west coast Sunday and should hold there through at least the middle of next week. This means sunny skies and above normal temperatures for the north state.
