This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring

Today will start off sunny and then afternoon and evening cumulus clouds will form over the mountains with isolated showers and thundershowers possible.  There is a chance that in the late afternoon as the showers begin to dissipate one could move over the north valley.  Temperatures today will be near normal with light winds.

High pressure continues just off the west coast and this morning a weak upper level low is  forming over the Pacific Northwest and Canada.  This low will drop slowly southward and will be over Nevada and Southern California by the weekend (see map below).   Thursday ad Friday the low will provide more instability for afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the Northern California mountains and they will be more widespread. There is a chance of one moving over the valley in the late afternoons.  Temperatures Thursday and Friday will be slightly above normal with light winds.

Saturday and Sunday the afternoon and evening thunderstorms will continue over the mountains but they will be not as widespread as Thursday and Friday.

Next week the high will be along the coast and the low will be moving eastward.   The north state will be sunny with slightly above normal temperatures.
