Weather Discussion for Wednesday November 14, 2018

Normal high/ low temperatures for Nov 12-Nov 19  (high/low) Redding 64/41, Chico 64/39, Quincy 54/29, Chester 50/26, Susanville 51/28, Grass Valley 58/38, Weaverville 55/32, Mt. Shasta 52/31, Yreka 52/29, Alturas 51/23

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

High pressure is still along and over the west coast.  However, it continues to slowly weaken.  Through the weekend Northern California will be partly sunny with some mid and high cloudiness (smoky near the Camp Fire).  Temperatures will continue a few degrees above normal and winds will be light.

Next week it looks like a low pressure trough will be approaching the coast (see map below).  If it holds together it could bring  rain to the north state around Tuesday and Wednesday.   I say "if" because sometimes these first troughs after a ridge tend to split as they approach the coast....
