This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
The storm that brought rain to the area yesterday is moving eastward, while off the coast another low pressure area has formed and is headed toward Northern and Central California. Expected scattered showers this morning and then rain over the area this afternoon through midday Thursday. Locally heavy precipitation is expected south of Redding. The snow levels will be 5000 to 6000 feet.
The precipitation will turn to showers late Thursday morning and then taper off during the afternoon. A colder low pressure area will move into the area late Friday and Saturday (see map below). This system will bring rain to all of the north state with snow levels 3000 feet north and 4500 feet south.
The rain will end by Saturday afternoon and evening and skies will be partly sunny to partly cloudy Sunday and Monday. Another low pressure area will move into our area Tuesday and Wednesday for more rain.
