Weather Discussion for Wednesday October 31, 2018

Normal high/ low temperatures for Oct 29-Nov 5  (high/low) Redding 70/44, Chico 72/43, Quincy 62/30, Chester 58/2 8, Susanville 59/31, Grass Valley 65/39, Weaverville 64/33, Mt. Shasta 56/32, Yreka 60/32, Alturas 58/25

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

Well this is not what I wanted to see.   High pressure continues along the coast and will hold there for the next week (see map below).  The jetstream will remain just to our north with frontal systems moving through the Pacific northwest.  Northern California will remain mostly clear with a few clouds at times from the systems moving by to  our north.  Temperatures will continue above normal and we will have periods of gusty north winds. 

The longer range models still show the ridge weakening somewhat after the 7th.

  1. More likely than not this will be the winter set up. These Highs seem to anchor themselves off the coast for months on end in the winter. Plenty of high clouds of late though. Thank you for your work
