This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

The high pressure area that has been over our area is beginning to weaken.   Today will be sunny/smoky with temperatures a little cooler.  This morning's satellite picture (below) shows a low pressure trough along the Canadian coast.  This system will move southward and be off the Northern California coast by late Tuesday.  The trough will move slowly across the area Wednesday and Thursday (see map below).  This is a weak system but will bring a few clouds to the area with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible over the higher elevations north of Redding on Wednesday and Thursday.  Temperatures will cool and will be several degrees below normal Wednesday through Friday.   Gusty southwest to northwest winds will occur Tuesday and Wednesday.

The trough will be east of our area by Friday and the weekend looks clear with near normal temperatures.
