Weather Discussion for Wednesday May 2, 2018

Normal high and low temperatures for April 30-May 7  (high/low) Redding 79/52, Chico 79/49, Quincy 70/36, Chester 65/32, Susanville 66/37, Grass Valley 68/44, Weaverville 73/38, Mt. Shasta 66/38, Yreka 69/37, Alturas 66/32

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

High pressure is over and along the west coast.  Today through Friday Northern California will be mostly sunny with temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above normal.  Winds will be light. 

Saturday and Sunday a weak upper level low pressure trough will move across Northern California and the Pacific Northwest (see map below).  This system will bring a few clouds to the north state with isolated showers possible over Siskiyou and Modoc counties.   Temperatures will cool to near normal. 

Monday skies will be partly to mostly sunny.  However, Tuesday a stronger upper level low pressure area will move across the north state.  This system will bring clouds an cooler temperatures to the area with scattered showers and thunderstorms over the higher elevations.
