Weather Discussion for Monday May 7, 2018

Normal high and low temperatures for May 7-May 14  (high/low) Redding 81/53, Chico 81/49, Quincy 72/36, Chester 67/33, Susanville 69/39, Grass Valley 70/44, Weaverville 76/38, Mt. Shasta 68/38, Yreka 72/38, Alturas 67/33

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

High pressure still holding over our area and temperatures today will be warmer with some areas in the north valley in the upper 80s to near 90.   The low pressure area shown on this morning's satellite picture (below) out to our west, is moving northeastward.   The southern end of this system will bring some clouds to the north state Tuesday with a few showers and thunderstorms over the foothills and mountains with a slight chance of a thunderstorm in the north end of the valley. 

Wednesday high pressure will rebuild along and over the west coast (see map below).   Wednesday through the weekend looks mostly sunny with temperatures warming to 8 to 12 degrees above normal by the weekend.  Gusty north winds will occur Friday through midday Sunday.
