This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

High pressure continues over the west and along the west coast.  Today should be a repeat of yesterday.  Over the next 5 to 6 days the high pressure area will begin to shift slowly back to the west as a low pressure trough develops in the Gulf of Alaska.   Sunday through midday Thursday the north state will be mostly clear with a few mid and high clouds.   Temperatures will slowly cooling to near normal by Thursday.  Winds will be light except for a short period of gusty north winds late Monday and Tuesday.

Clouds will begin increasing Thursday afternoon and by Friday a cold low pressure trough will be along the coast (see map below).  This system will move across Northern California Friday and early Saturday and will bring rain to the entire area.  Snow levels will drop to 4000 to 5000 feet by Friday afternoon and evening.  Strong...gusty south winds will occur Friday afternoon and evening.

Saturday we will have partly cloudy skies with a few showers over the higher elevations and then another cold wet storm system will move into the area Sunday and Monday.
