This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
The high pressure ridge is still off the coast but is beginning to weaken. Today Northern California will be mostly sunny with temperatures a little cooler than yesterday. Gusty north winds will move into the area tonight and will continue through early Monday. Skies will continue clear Sunday and Monday with temperatures cooling to near normal by Monday.
Tuesday and Wednesday a low pressure trough will drop southeastward across the Pacific Northwest and into the the Great Basin (see map below). The southern end of this system will clip the north state and will we will see a few clouds with the chance of a light shower near the Oregon border. This system will bring cooler air into our area with temperatures dropping to slightly below normal by Wednesday. Gusty southwest to northwest winds will precede the trough with gusty northwest to north winds behind it.
A slightly stronger system will move through Friday and early Saturday with more clouds and a few showers over the areas north of Redding.
