Redding has now had 61 days, this year, of 100 degrees or hotter.  (Today will be 62).  Thanks to some research by Steve Leach (Norcal Predictive Svcs) we had 69 days in 1967.

The short forecast is really hot....then hot....then really hot again..

High pressure is over the western U.S.   It will slightly weaken mid week and then rebuild or strengthen by Friday and next weekend. (see map below).  The inland areas of the north state will be sunny for the next week.  Temperatures today will be about like yesterday and then should slowly cool to 5 to 10 degrees above normal by Wednesday and then back to 10 to 15 degrees above normal by Friday and the weekend.  Winds will be light nights and mornings and south to southwest in the afternoon.

Longer range forecast data shows the high pressure ridge holding through the first 10 days of September.
