Weather Discussion for Wednesday June 14, 2017

Normal high and low temperatures for June 12-June 19 (high/low)...Redding 91/62, Chico 90/57, Quincy 81/42, Chester 78/41, Susanville 80/46, Grass Valley 71/52, Weaverville 84/45, Mt. Shasta 77/46, Yreka 81/46, Alturas 78/41

This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

Here comes summer.... High pressure is beginning to build over the western U.S, and off the west coast.  This will slowly force the jetstream northward and by this weekend it will be well north of our area.  (see map below). Temperatures will be warming.  Skies will be sunny today and with a few mid and high clouds Thursday and Friday from storms moving into the Pacific Northwest.  Saturday through most of next week...sunny inland with fog and low clouds at the coast.  Temperatures will be back above normal by Thursday.  This weekend through at least the mid part of next week many inland valleys will be be above 100 degrees.   Winds will be light except for gusty north winds in some areas this weekend.
