This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

This morning's satellite picture (below) shows a cold, for this time of year, low pressure area just off the Oregon and Northern California coast.  The low will move slowly across our area tonight and Sunday and will be over Nevada by Monday.  Today and Sunday the low will generate bands of showers and possible thunderstorms as it moves eastward.  Most of the showers will be over the foothills and mountains but there is a chance of showers in the valley north of Chico.  Snow levels will be 5000 to 6000 feet.  Daytime temperatures will continue 10 to 18 degrees below normal.  Most of the north state will be sunny Monday but there will still be clouds and a few showers along and east of the Sierra Cascade Crest.

Tuesday through next weekend high pressure will rebuild over the western U.S. and along the west coast (see map below).   The north state will be sunny and warmer with temperatures warming.  Daytime high temperatures will be back to normal by Friday and by the weekend some north valley locations could break the 100 degree mark.  Winds will be light.
