Partly to mostly sunny and warmer today and Tuesday as high pressure remains along and over the west coast.  Winds will be light.

Wednesday the high pressure ridge shifts eastward as a low pressure trough begins to deepen along the coast.  Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler and clouds will increase in the afternoon.  Wednesday night and Thursday the low pressure trough will be along the west coast (see map below).  During this time the north state will be partly cloudy to cloudy with rain or showers.  The trough will move slowly across Northern California Friday and Saturday.  Friday through Saturday afternoon there will be showers and thunderstorms.  Most of the activity will be over the foothills and mountains but there will be isolated showers and thunderstorms in the valley north of Chico.  Temperatures Thursday through Saturday will be 10 to 20 degrees below normal.

Sunday and Monday the north state will be partly to mostly sunny with temperatures still a few degrees below normal.
