This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.
The high pressure ridge that has been along and over the west coast is weakening and moving eastward. A low pressure trough will be along the coast by later tonight and will move across the area Thursday and Friday. (see map below). Today we will see a few clouds in the afternoon with cooler temperatures. Thursday and Friday we will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rain or showers over the higher elevations with a chance of showers in the north end of the valley.
The trough will move east of our area late Friday and Saturday the north state will be partly to mostly sunny with temperatures back to near normal.
Sunday and Monday another low pressure trough will be along the coast. This looks like a stronger system and will bring light rain or showers to the areas north of a line from Clear Lake to Lake Tahoe. This will also be colder system with light snow above 5500 to 6500 feet. The trough will be east of our area by early Tuesday and skies will be clearing. Wednesday should be sunny with normal temperatures.
