This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

This morning's satellite picture (below) shows a low pressure area dropping southeastward along the Canadian coast.  This low will move across the Pacific Northwest and the north end of California Tuesday.   Clouds will increase later today and Tuesday will be cloudy to partly cloudy and cool with light rain or showers over the foothills and mountains with a chance of light showers in the valley north of Chico.  Skies will be clearing late Tuesday and early Wednesday as the low moves eastward and high pressure begins to establish itself along the west coast.

Wednesday through the weekend the high pressure ridge along and over the coast will continue to strengthen (see map below).   During this time we will see sunny skies and warmer temperatures.  Saturday and Sunday temperatures will be 12 to 18 degrees above normal, with the north valley in the upper 90s to near 100.
