This blog will be issued every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday morning and updated if the weather is changing or critical or interesting weather events are occurring.

This week's weather will be the tale of two weather systems.   High pressure to start and low pressure at the end.

High pressure is along the west coast and will remain there through Wednesday.  During this time we will see sunny skies with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal.   Wednesday will be the warmest day with some north valley areas in the low to mid 90s.   Light to moderate north winds will continue.

Thursday a cutoff or closed low will form off the Northern California coast.   This low will drop slowly southward and be along or over the Central and Southern California coast through the weekend (see map below).  The low will destabilize the atmosphere and trigger showers and thunderstorms.   Thursday and Friday the showers and thunderstorms will be over Northern California.  Most of the activity will be over the foothills and mountains with isolated activity in the valley.   Saturday and Sunday most of the shower activity will be over the southern half of the state with a few showers and thunderstorms over the higher elevations south of Mt Lassen.   Temperatures will cool and be back to normal or below by the weekend.
