High pressure is just off the west coast and will hold there through midday Friday. The north state will be sunny with daytime temperatures above normal and light winds.
Late Friday a low pressure trough begins to deepen along the coast. This system will bring light to moderate precipitation to the north state Saturday and early Sunday. (see map below). Snow levels will be 3500 to 4000 feet north rising to 5000 feet in the Tahoe area. The trough will be moving east of the area Sunday and by midday Sunday the valley should be partly sunny with a few showers lingering over the higher elevations east of the valley until evening.
A weaker frontal system will bring light precipitation to the area late Monday and Tuesday with snow levels 3500 to 4500 feet.
