Spring will start off wet.  A series of low pressure troughs and frontal systems will move across Northern California over the next week.  The first will move through the area today and tonight with light to moderate rain and gusty south winds.   Snow levels with this system will be 6000 feet.  The next system will move through the area Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday with showers and possible thunderstorms.  Snow levels will drop to 4000 feet north and 6000 feet south by Tuesday afternoon.

There will be a short break between systems Thursday.  Skies will be sunny in the valley with isolated showers over the mountains.  Thursday night and Friday the next system moves inland. (see map below).   We will see more rain with  snow levels 4500 to 5500 feet.  The precipitation turns to showers Saturday afternoon and then another frontal system will bring rain the area Sunday.
